A major demonstration will be held to protest U.S. President Donald Trump’s expected visit to Malaysia later this month, PAS Deputy President Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said in Parliament recently.

PAS Youth Chief Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden has been vocal about banning Trump’s visit to the country. In a recent statement, Afnan explained why Trump should not be welcomed in Malaysia.

“The main culprit in the genocide”

In his statement on Friday (17 October), Afnan listed five major reasons as to why Malaysians should not welcome the US President to Malaysia, citing that Trump is the major culprit in the genocide in Palestine.

“Trump contributes a lot, financially, to the military in Israel.”

“It’s not logical anymore to say you want to negotiate about Palestine with Trump because a ceasefire deal has been reached between Gaza and Israel,” he added.

Afnan also claimed that many ASEAN countries are not aligned with Malaysia on Palestinian issues, adding that Trump has never shown any commitment to addressing the genocide in Palestine.

“As the US President, Trump has always sided with the Israelis, and his arrival in Malaysia will not bring any positive outcomes.”

What about boosting Malaysia’s economy and bringing in investments?

Afnan argued that inviting Trump for such purposes would be equivalent to risking the future of Malaysia and ASEAN. He claimed that Trump has exploited partnerships and deals in various circumstances, including with Saudi Arabia and Qatar. He also noted that Trump requested a special ceremony outside of ASEAN to highlight his role in peaceful negotiations between Thailand and Cambodia.

The rally is expected to take place on 24 October, while the ASEAN Summit will be held from 26 to 28 October.
